Jake Behr

“It was a proud day when LaGrange College loaned the statue of the Marquis de Lafayette to the City Of LaGrange to be placed on a pedestal in the center of the fountain in the square changing the name from Court Square to Lafayette Square. It was a sad day when Dr. Richard Ingram, asked people in downtown Lagrange who the statue was in the fountain, discovering a few people knew Lafayette. The Lafayette alliance was founded to educate our citizens on the importance of Lafayette to the United States of America. It is a pleasure to help in this endeavor.”

Jake Behr was the lynchpin for the creation of the Lafayette Alliance. Behr graduated with a business degree from the University of Georgia and returned home to manage his family’s business. Behr an active community member has participated in a number of local organizations including Rotary Club, Camp Viola, Troup County Historical Society, LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, Chamber of Commerce, Downtown LaGrange Development Authority, and First United Methodist Church. In 2010, Behr became the editor of Round and ‘Bout a local newcomer and tourism magazine. He retired in February of 2021.
