The Lafayette Alliance is honored to host the American Friends of Lafayette annual meeting from June 8-11, 2023 in LaGrange, Georgia!

In 1828, the City of LaGrange was incorporated. The recommendation for its name came from Georgia Governor George M. Troup. Troup was said to have overheard General Lafayette, during his grand farewell tour, comment that the West Georgia region reminded him of his wife’s family estate, the Chateau de la Grange. In 1975, in preparation for the bicentennial of the United States, the City of LaGrange erected a statue of General Lafayette in the heart of the city.
