January 14, 2022 News & Announcements

The Lafayette Alliance is excited to announce its partnership with National History Day West Georgia and National History Day Georgia. The Lafayette Alliance will sponsor special awards at the West Georgia Regional contest and the State contest of National History Day. Each contest has been endowed with monetary prizes for students who create exemplary projects.

The Spirit of Lafayette award: This prize is given in recognition of liberty, equality, and justice throughout the world. The Marquis de Lafayette, known later as General Lafayette, fought alongside Washington in the American Revolution and was crucial in gaining French aid for the American cause. He was an early advocate for the American democratic experiment and the abolition of slavery. This award is given to an outstanding student project in either division that documents and analyzes liberty, equality, and justice through the lens of human liberty and freedom.

The NHD GA Classroom Award seeks to support National History Day Georgia program efforts in high-needs classrooms. This is a cash award granted in the amount of a single payment of $500 paid directly to the educator and used to meet classroom/school NHD program needs
